Skin Resurfacing.. Pixel Laser or Glycolic Peel? day 3

Do you have freckles? I do, and i dont like them! I was never a fan of sunblock or any makeup that has SPF until recently. I noticed that my freckles has occupied a large area on my face and that was when I became bothered. I'm a fan of summer and I'm just forced to put some sunblock when I'm in the beach.

So, a few months ago, I went to a dermatologist and she suggested that i undergo Glycolic (chemical) peel. It costs Php3,000/session and you have to undergo at least 6 sessions (once a month) for the freckles/spots to minimize. Aside from Php3,000 a month you also have to buy creams, sunblock, etc which you will apply twice a day. It was very taxing (i use 6 creams in the am/pm) especially in the mornings when you are really in a hurry. And the most annoying part is my face never stopped peeling!

And that was when I decided to consult another dermatologist for a much quicker and less taxing procedure that will minimize (if not eliminate) my freckles. She introduced me to Pixel Laser Resurfacing for the same price of glycolic peel from my former dermatologist.

Comparison between:

Glycolic Peel- A glycolic acid peel is a quick and easy way to improve skin texture, banish scars, marks and other skin imperfections, and fight the signs of aging. Chemical peels remove a micro-thin top layer of skin, ridding skin of damaged cells and treating wrinkles and fine lines, age spots and skin discoloration, and surface sun damage.
                     - Its just a mixture of chemicals/solution which is applied your face and then rinsed off after a few minutes.

Pixel laser- The Pixel Fractional Resurfacing Laser is one of the newest and most effective rejuvenating lasers. Pixel Fractional Resurfacing Laser works by creating thousands of equidistant, closely grouped, tiny areas of skin damage of equal depth, separated by larger areas of normal skin; healing can begin immediately from the intervening intact skin areas. It is an FDA-approved fractional ablative skin resurfacing laser that addresses acne scars, aging skin, wrinkles, folds, loose and redundant skin, M\melasma and stretch marks. One to several treatments may be necessary depending on the condition to be treated and the patient's response to treatment.
               - The machine looks like this

So here is what my skin looks like before..

After my Pixel Laser Session..(Last wednesday). my whole face turned red

a big pimple below my lip, my derma injected sumthing on it

2nd Day..white spots from pixel turned brownish in color
and after the pimple injection, it became smaller
Day 3:

The good thing about Pixel is you can apply makeup the next day, but I decided not to. And peeling usually happens on the third day.

To sum this up, I prefer Pixel over Glycolic Peel. The results are the same but it eliminates the application of too many creams, and no more continuous peeling. Although the laser procedure hurts more and you will feel a burning sensation (which usually lasts 30minutes) after the session. And that's where the saying " No pain, No Gain" comes in! ☺

Do you think freckles are pretty? Have you tried any skin resurfacing procedure? Was it effective?

Review: Netutrogena Eye Makeup Remover

Just recently, I started collecting and using makeups. Apart from good quality makeups, I know that it is also important to look for makeup removers that easily does the job. I came across Ulta and decided to get the Neutrogena Hydrating Makeup Remover (3 fl oz or 88 ml) for $6.36 ( along with Neutrogena Oil free makeup remover, which I will be doing a review soon). So after a few weeks of using it, i decided to share with you my thoughts on the product...

What it Claims: This light, residue-free lotion gently dissolves your hard to remove eye makeup while conditioning your eye area.
The unique formula quickly removes makeup-even waterproof mascara-yet is gentle enough to use daily.  Plus, a replenishing blend of cucumber and aloe extracts helps smooth the look of dry lines and puffiness.  Your skin will look clean and refreshed, feel soothed and hydrated.

Directions: Dispense onto fingertips or onto cotton ball and gently massage over closed eyes.  Can also be used on face for makeup removal.  Tissue off product for maximum hydration.

I say: This definitely does the job. And sure does remove makeup even waterproof mascara. A small amount goes a long way. I say you just let it sit on your eyelashes/eyelid (if you used waterproof mascara) for a few seconds and rub gently (good for the sensitive eye area). You can tissue it off and no need to wash your face with water. It doesnt dry out your eye area unlike other makeup removers. But as I usually remove my makeup before sleeping, I use this, wash my face using my face cleanser and do the rest of my night routine. You can also use it to remove your face makeup. Also a good thing about this is doesnt make your vision cloudy unlike other oil based makeup removers.

My Rating is:

Price: 9/10
Packaging: 9/10
Performance: 10/10
Bottomline: Recommended

I would definitely repurhcase this makeup remover, but after I have finished everything that I bought (L'Occitane, MAC & Neutrogena Oil Free).

Have you tried this makeup remover? Share your thoughts...

1st day @ Maquillage Professionel by MUFE

So, last Saturday was my first day at Maquillage Professionel sponsored by Makeup Forever. There were only 6 students in the class. Our first lesson was Makeup base and Foundation application. Thought I share with you what I learned.

Step by Step:

  1. Cleanse, Tone but avoid moisturizer if possible ( any brand will do)

  2. Apply All Mat Primer (T-zone)

 3. Foundation Primer - use a primer suitable for your skintone

*4. Corrector - where needed

 5. Foundation

*6. Concealer- where needed, and only where you applied corrector

 7. Lift Concealer - under eyes, where needed

  8. Loose Powder to set the foundation

I learned so much from my first day at MUFE. Although I've been applying concealer and primer before foundation, I didnt know that I have to follow these steps to make my foundation last long and prepare my face for other makeup application.

But if you're in a hurry, you can skip other steps and proceed to Step 5.

I hope you find this helpful. and let me know if you followed these steps and if it worked. You can also share with me tips on how you apply your foundation...
